How to Use Aero Data in Training

Aero data in cycling training means measuring your drag area (CdA) and using it to make position, equipment, and pacing decisions that translate directly into speed. The best position is not the lowest CdA in isolation — it is the lowest CdA at which you can hold your target watts for the duration of the event. A position that drops CdA by 0.015 m² but costs you 30 W of sustainable power is a net loss.

Aero data lets you test the real-world impact of equipment rather than relying on manufacturer claims. Common comparisons:
